FLISP has helped millions of lower-income South African citizens and permanent residents achieve the funds they need to originate a bond, buy land, or pay off their mortgage. The South African government offers first-time home buyers who don’t have the income to buy a home themselves a subsidy that allows them to achieve their dream of owning a home. The best part? You’ll never have to pay it back.
You can use the subsidy to pay for:
- The deposit on your bond
- Ownership transfer and bond registration costs
- Lessening your overall loan amount
You’ll need to submit proof that your household earns below R22,000 per month but more than R3,500, that you’ve never owned property before, and that you have dependents. Moreover, you must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
How Does the Application Process Work?
First, you must go to our application page. There, we’ll request your contact details, monthly salary, your age, your spouse’s salary (if you’re married), whether you’re a permanent resident, whether you’ve ever received a housing grant before, and whether you’ve ever owned property before.
If you meet the FLISP criteria, we’ll request documents to verify your claims, such as birth certificates for dependants, marriage certificates, payslips, your ID or permanent residency certificate, and more to send to the FLISP authorities.
Once we’ve compiled the necessary documents to apply, we’ll submit your application and regularly conduct follow-ups. Once your application has been approved, we can help you originate (apply for and get approved for) a bond, and then assist you with the transfer documents.
You can use FLISP in combination with cash your bond, part of your pension, savings, a stokvel or cooperative housing scheme and loans supported by Employer-Based Housing Schemes such as the Government Employees Housing Scheme for government employees.
The less you earn monthly, the more you’ll be eligible for. You could get up to R169, 265!
