What is FLISP?

FLISP stands for Finance Linked Individual Subsidy Programme. It’s a government one-time fixed payment designed to help people buy their first home.

You can use the subsidy:

  • As a deposit for your home
  • To construct a home on land you already own
  • To cover lawyer and transfer fees
  • In conjunction with a bond, your pension or savings to cover shortfalls
  • To reduce your existing bond amount, thereby reducing your monthly repayments

To qualify for FLISP or FHF (First House Fund), you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be over the age of 18.
  • Live with a partner or have dependants.
  • Have a household income of at least R3,500 and a maximum of R22,000.
  • Be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have never owned a house before.

If you meet this criteria, congratulations! You’re eligible for government funding to buy a house of your own
